Stepan Kostiurin, Doctor of Medicine, Professor, Head of the Department of General Pathology at the School of Medicine of the Imperial Kharkiv University from 1886 to 1895. Professor Kostiurin, who was a student of V.V. Pashutin, became the head of the Department of General Pathology in Kharkiv, having arrived here from the Military Medical Academy when his predecessor I.M. Obolenskyi moved to the Department of Pathology of Organs and Systems and Therapy in 1886. When Kostiurin was the head of the department, the teaching was of a pronounced physiological character, and the department's research was devoted to the issues of immunity, pathogenesis of infection, and uremia. He is also the author of 34 scientific papers.
